In 1979, it was decided that the Sarasota Church was in need of more room to accommodate the increased number of winter visitors, and since more visitors were making their winter homes in and around Fort Myers, it was considered advisable to have an additional place of worship.
After utilizing multiple temporary locations, a permeant facility was constructed in North Fort Myers. The first service was held in the completed building on December 2nd, 1984. However additional space would eventually be required. In March 1996 the building was enlarged to increase the size of the dining room, add a new baby room, a conference room, 2 new Sunday School rooms, and an additional rest room.
By 2011, a committee was formed to explore moving the church farther south to provide closer access for the majority of those in attendance. Eventually land was purchased and construction commenced again. On January 11 of 2015, a dedication service was held at the current church location.
Special recognition should be given to those many faithful church family members who made special contributions of labor and love to expedite the various construction projects throughout the growth of the Fort Myers Church.
In addition, we have been blessed with a consistent history of Brothers willing to shepherd and minister unto the congregation from various backgrounds, personalities, and hometowns. These acts of service and sacrifice have created a legacy that we look forward to passing down to our future generations.
